The character.
Name Samantha Crane Ilene Tchatmen Nickname(s): Scritch Age:18 Mutations/Abilities: (Main)Technopathy, Piperdream and Enhanced hearing… Face Claim: Amber Tamblyn(Kind of) Appearance: Scritch usually appears to be ill, always looking underfed and pale. She isn’t very tall, only reaching 5”9’ and is thin as a pole. Rarely is she out so her skin, not only thin as paper, manages to keep as close to white as skin tone can. She has long thing fingers that usually have neon green and black yin-yang signs painted on their nails. Her feet, on the other hand, are large in proportion to her figure, though they are not very large in size compared to a normal 18-year-old girl.
Short, Carmel brown, mousy hair frames her sharp face. Her eyes are oddly colored; one is misty silver and the other milky brown. Often they are wide and focused on a book page or computer screen… or closed listening to the soft sounds around her. A pair of small round silver hoops always hangs from her ear lobes. She never takes them out partially because they are little ringlets with not end to unhook to remove them… and partially because, if they could come out she would most likely never take the time to remove them…
When she isn’t expecting any company, or planning on going out she usually sticks to a T-shirt and sweat pants. When she does go out she likes to wear patchwork jeans and an intricate red top that has sleeves that start tight at the shoulders but gradually flare out, hanging just below her finger tips. The same idea is for the rest of the shirt. It starts out tighter at the chest but gradually get looser.
Family: Mother- Ilene Ripley Tchatmen Father- Patrick Crane Tchatmen Brother- Darin Patrick Tchetman Personal History Samantha lived alone with her mother and father and one brother until she was 13 when she discovered, for the first time, one of the powers she possessed. She had enjoyed living out in the country in the quiet and enjoyed singing to herself when outside in the evening. On this particular evening the breeze was soft and the sun was setting beautifully. She and her younger brother, Darin had been sitting out on the roof to watch the bright red sun set against a yellow sky that soon turned a deep shade of navy. The stars were out and subconsciously; Samantha began to hum to herself. “What are you humming?” The small boy inquired sleepily, turning to face her. “Just something I made up…” Replied Samantha casually, in her quiet voice. “Do you have any words for it yet?” “Kind of… they’re not real words.” “Not real words?” Darin asked, looking perplexed. “How can you sing without real words?” Instead of answering a steady stream of smoothed gibberish slid from her lips making an eerie sounding melody that seemed to say nothing but sent a message all the same. It couldn’t be called happy or sad nor could it be placed in a genre. It was a dream, a liquidated dream. Darin’s eyes lost focus and slowly he slid from his up-right position. Samantha stopped looking down at him. “Darin! Darin, wake up!” She prodded his arm; his half open eyes seemed hazed and unseeing. When he showed no signs of stirring she became frantic. “Darin! Darin! Wake up!” She repeated anxiously, still unable to awaken him from his sleepless daze. “What’s wrong Samantha?” Her mother had come outside and was looking up at her from the stone driveway. It didn’t take long for her mother to panic either. When her father came to have a look he immediately brought him inside and laid him gingerly on the couch. When he asked her what they had been doing she told them all she had done was sing a little bit of a song that she had made up to him. Neither of them suspected that was what put him in this odd state. They all sat in the living room almost all night, none of them getting much sleep. About 5 the next morning Samantha sat down next to where he still lay on the couch and started to sing softly again. This melody sounded differently from the first. It sounded more like a composed sunrise, again with no real words and an eerie beat. Almost immediately Darin awoke. He looked tired, as if he hadn’t slept all night. “What did you do!?” Her father asked from behind her. He sounded horrified. “I sang and it woke him up!” Samantha replied happily. “But y-you sang to put him asleep too! And your voice… it was---” Her father seemed overly shaken. “Y-you have some sort of freak voice! Y-you get away from my son!” “Dad… What’s wrong?” Darin asked, unsure of what was going on. Her father sputtered for almost 30 minutes before he snapped and refused to except that it was just a coincidence and stated to come up with the craziest ideas about what she had been intending on doing and how her voice completely changed and all sorts of nonsense. It was true that her voice changed considerably when she sang these tunes and that it indeed wasn’t a coincidence. He left, later that day with his son and there belongings. Darin had been convinced by his father after a long long speech they had in the far corner of the tool shed so Samantha and her mother couldn’t find them to convince either of them other wise. After a while she and her mother were both convinced it had been a not been a coincidence when she allowed her mother to hear the melody and then reversed its effects the same way she had with her brother. It took another 4 years to realize Cyberpathy but only 1 to find the enhanced hearing. It was odd… very odd but her mother kept her. Finally her mother couldn’t stand it and when to look for her lost husband. Samantha was left finally left behind. She began to travel a lot and started going by Scritch. Eventually she stumbled upon Blackbriar and attends school. Personality: Scritch isn’t very sociable towards most people. She tends to try and avoid talking to anyone most of the time. But when she makes friends she loosens up a lot… To other people that she doesn’t know well she is very shy and tends to say very little. She can also be very jumpy, especially at loud noises.
She is usually friendly and speaks her mind, but only to her friends. Too often she’s intimidated by other people and underestimates her own strength and intelligence. She is a very intelligent person with strong abilities when she has confidence in herself, though…
She enjoys listening to music, but prefers jazz and blues to most everything else. Scritch is also rather skilled on the computer and can gain information fast. Fears:Uncalled for loud noises(When she knows it’s coming it’s ok but if it’s sudden it scares the crap out of her), gore(blood, not so much) Strengths/Scritch can work threw puzzles and mathematic problems well and has a sharp mind. Though she is shy most of the time, she has a beautiful, soothing voice. She is also equipped with an excellent sense of direction that came in handy when she was traveling. Interpretation is also a skill she caries and is able to blend into the background unnoticed, watching and listening to other people. Weaknesses: Scritch is not physically fit in any way. She can’t run long distances and couldn’t win a fight to save her life. She also has a bad tendency to not stand up for herself and underestimate her own skills. When put under pressure she starts to undervalue herself and starts believing her own talents aren’t good for anything and she isn’t needed. She tries to stay out of everybody’s way so she is often scared to ask for help with most everything.
Alias: Kohaku Experience: About a year How’d you hear about us? Tera on neopets… Other: I’m really slow and ask really stupid questions… Please don’t hate me… Role playing Sample(This is Naruto based… I’m basing a few of my characters off someone else’s… Here goes nothing…) Tsuna stepped back into the village for the first time in years. He had been out and traveling, finding out his passed and looking for lost members of his clan. Sadly, he had discovered that he was truly the last one. It didn’t matter now. He was back and it was an amazing feeling. He strolled the streets, recognizing most everyone he saw, now older. Not many people recognized him though, most eyes didn’t even pass over his figure. With evening in the leaf village, what could he have expected? Everyone had somewhere to be and to everyone else he was a stranger. “Oi! Watch where you’re going!” Tsuna jumped, he hadn’t noticed the shorter girl walk into him, or rather, he walked into her. “Aw man…” She had leaned down to pick up the vegetables the spilled from her arms. “My tomatoes broke.” She stood up full height, which wasn’t very high. “Moron!” She yelled, shifting the raw produce in her arms. A long black coat trailed to about her knees and under that was a red velvety, waist length jacket. Both were open revealing a light foresty green T-shirt. “Keyke?” said Tsuna, bewildered to run into her so fast. She looked up at his face for the first time since their encounter, the first time in 4 years. Her jaw dropped faster than the vegetables hit the ground. “Tsuna?” She whispered, wide-eyed. “It is you…” He smiled. They both stood threw a silence, each of them speechless. “W-Why did you-When-” Keyke spluttered. “How’s everyone been?” Asked Tsuna. “You know… Kuitsuko and um... Honake! He was your other teammate, right? And Usui and Raiko! How have they-“ She cut him off. “Tsuna… You’ve been gone a long time… Everyone thought you were dead.” “Why would they-“ Tsuna stopped himself this time. He hadn’t left any notice, anything to signal he had gone or where he was going. “Come on…” Keyke said softly, turning towards the old training ground where they used to train with Keykes teammates, Kuitsuko and Honake, as well as Tsunas old teammates, Usui and Raiko. He said nothing but followed her towards the trees and then into the forests that surrounded the leaf village. The walk was long and silenced, other than the wavering trees and occasional crack of a twig all was quiet. Finally, after walking about a mile Keyke stopped at a tree and made her way to the top-most branch. The sun had long since sunk bellow the horizon so the stars shown brightly. Keyke diverted her eyes to the speckled sky and the silence fell again. Tsuna spoke first. “You always did like the night sky.” He said softly. “Tsuna-“ Keyke broke off, figuring out where to start. “When you left you didn’t say anything. No one worried much until a month had passed and no word came. People became anxious so Tsunade sent out a search party.” “So Tsunade is still in charge, she’s still the Hokage?” Tsuna asked. “Ya…” answered Keyke shortly before continuing like he hadn’t interrupted. “Kuitsuko, Honake, Usui, Raiko and I were the first to depart.” She paused again, biting down on her lip. “You have to understand how hard we tried, how long we searched… We were bound to find an enemy at some point, venturing so far into different villages.” Her voice had become anxious and her face was grim. “What? What happened?” He asked. “Tsuna… Kuitsuko, Honake and Raiko all died.” Tsuna looked at her, her gaze kept to her hands. “Th-they…” He spoke slowly and his voice seemed distant to him. “All-“ Raiko had been his teammate. He had never like Tsuna much but they had fought side by side for so long. “Died?” Kuitsuko… She was such a beautiful girl. She was so talented, so- He had loved her… she was… gone? “How!?” He demanded. “Raiko died protecting Kuitsuko.” She started after a moment, not diverting her eyes from her hands. “Then… a while later we were sent out again and Kuitsuko was killed. Then-“ Tsuna finally noticed how hard her voice was shaking. “Honake died trying-“ A small drop of water landed on her laced fingers. “He died… he died to protect—“ Another tear slid from her cheek, landing on her hands as well. Honake. He had never much liked him, always having this attitude that never warred. But Keyke had always treated him as a brother. He died trying to protect her… And Kuitsuko was her teammate too. They had fought side-by-side longer than Tsuna himself had known either of them. “Keyke.” He spoke softly this time, disguising his own anguish. She looked up, her cheeks were red and wet with salty tears. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to-“ “Sorry?! Sorry can’t make you write a note to the people who worried about you! Sorry can’t bring back Honake and Kuitsuko! Sorry can’t make everything I’ve gone threw trying to find you go away!” “Who else worried about me? I have no family!” He asked “No one really liked me… my team couldn’t stand me…” “Who—worried?” Keykes voice shook harder now. “Tsuna! You made me so happy when you were still here! Do you realize I haven’t smiled once since the day you left? Ever since you disappeared my life has been going down hill! First Kuitsuko… Then everyone thought you were dead but me Usui and Honake kept looking. Then Honake-“ She stopped as though she couldn’t bare to say it. “Tsuna! I started giving up hope… I thought- I—I have been so… So worried… about you. Worried you really were gone…” “But I’m back…” He said “Ya… but where will you go. Usui has had her team replaced I’m a replacement on a different team. I’m sorry Tsuna… Everyone thinks you’re a traitor or dead… you’re not welcome here anymore…”
